Following a lifetime of residing in various countries around the world, I currently work from my home studio in Sunnyvale, California.
After years of creating functional ceramic work on a pottery wheel, I am revisiting my clay roots by creating forms using hand building techniques. I combine traditional techniques of coil building and pinch pots to give each piece its unique texture, lightness, and balance, leaving finger-marks as evidence of my process and the subjective character of each piece. The simplicity, the clean lines, and the fingerprints impressed in the clay, all invite the user to connect with the piece, connect with the maker and create his own journey.
Through my work, I express the images and emotions that reside within me by projecting them onto clay. I am drawn to clay’s simplicity, earthy feel and color. I believe in its healing properties.
